The CSP office will be closed between Christmas and New Year (25 December-2 January).  If you need urgent advice during this period visit "Advice for members during the holiday closure"

NHS and non-NHS terms and conditions

Whether you are entitled to more than the minimum legal rights to parental leave will depend on where you are employed

If you are covered by NHS terms and conditions

If you work in the NHS or are covered by Agenda for Change (AfC), you may be entitled to parental leave and pay that is better than the minimum legal rights.

There are different provisions England and Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so check Section 15 of the AfC handbook for further details.

Your NHS trust may also have its own policies that improve on AfC so check your collective agreement if there is one or your staff handbook or employer policy. Your CSP steward will also be able to help.

If you are not covered by NHS terms and conditions

If you work outside the NHS or are not covered by Agenda for Change you can check what legal rights you have to parental pay and leave.

Your employer may also have its own policies that are better than the statutory minimum so check your collective agreement if there is one or your staff handbook or employer policy. Your CSP steward will also be able to help.
