About us
We are one of the country’s largest providers of health and social work education and with a demand for places on our undergraduate programmes that far exceeds our capacity.
Our key strengths lie in the fact that we have twenty years of experience in educating health professionals such as physiotherapists, diagnostic radiographers, midwives, nurses, paramedics and radiotherapists. We were the first UK University physiotherapy programme to be endorsed by Skills Active. This has enabled our physiotherapy students to obtain additional qualifications and be eligible to apply to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS).
We have 24 academic members of staff HCPC registered and chartered physiotherapists who contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and post graduate teaching and research. In addition to this we have a large number of external clinicians and experts who are contracted to further enhance the provision.
We work closely with placement providers both in the NHS and independent sector. We pride ourselves on the quality of programme and the employability of our graduates.
About the faculty
We have over 200 members of academic staff the majority of which are qualified in a particular health discipline and are registered with either the Nursing and Midwifery Council or the Health and Care Professions Council. Many of our lecturers work in a clinical environment and undertake research in addition to their teaching commitments which means that they bring their current experiences directly into the student environment.
