The Robert Gordon University RGU

Robert Gordon University has a heritage going back 250 years, and it was granted university status in 1992. Since then the university has gone from strength to strength, proactively engaging with businesses in the development of many of its degree courses and meeting regional and national needs at a time of constant change and development. As a result we have a reputation for producing graduates that are highly sought after by employers. Today Robert Gordon University delivers more than 300 courses to over 15,000 full and part-time students from 120 countries. Over the last decade we have consistently had one of the best records of any UK university for graduate-level employment and we were quoted in The Times Good University Guide 2012 as the best modern university in the UK - for the third year running.  We are also the Sunday Times Scottish University of the Year 2012.

About us

Our course is delivered by experienced health care professionals who are committed to ensuring that you develop the skills and competencies needed to become a confident and independent physiotherapist. This course will enable you to effectively assess and treat patients, continually analyse and evaluate your practice, and meet the demands of the rapidly changing health sector.

Our placement programme forms an integral part of our pre-registration courses, allowing you to put theory into practice and gain valuable on-the-job experience in a wide variety of settings within the NHS, voluntary, private and public sectors across Scotland and overseas.  Our teaching programmes give you the opportunity to learn alongside students from other health professions including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing and midwifery as well as medical students from Aberdeen University. This inter-professional education reflects the kind of team working you will experience in many health related settings. Our close links with practitioners and managers in the acute, community and primary care NHS Boards, local authorities and private sector ensure that our courses are kept up-to-date with the changing demands of the workplace. These relationships ensure we produce highly employable graduates who meet the “fitness for purpose” and “fitness for practice” agenda essential for effective health care practice.

Our aim is to support and help you develop into a competent, confident and employable graduate, who is ready to enter the workplace having gained the skills required and a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself and your abilities.
