Event organiser, senior physiotherapist Krishna Govind, nominated the  champions who each day picked a subject to discuss with patients.

These covered:

  •  hydration and nutrients
  •  staying active after a fall
  • falls safety at home
  • vision, hearing and footwear
  • outdoor falls

‘For five days we talked to patients about each criteria and gave patients and family members handouts,’ Mrs Govind told Frontline.

A falls education group every Wednesday involves the falls champions along with technical instructor Elizabeth Chisoko.

‘My plan for the future is to involve all health care assistants and nurses,’ said Mrs Govind.
