The CSP

Join us as we hear directly from support workers who are actively engaged in the leadership, education, research and clinical pillars of practice. Our speakers will share their personal journeys and show how work across these pillars has transformed their careers and enriched their roles.

In this webinar, where we will:

  • Showcase success stories: Hear from support workers excelling across each of the four pillars and how these roles have advanced their careers.
  • Reimagine roles: Discover how the four pillars can be woven into current support worker roles, paving the way for growth and the creation of advanced positions.
  • Highlight delegation in action: Learn how delegation principles can be applied to non-clinical tasks, maximising the impact of support workers in diverse areas.

The CSP champions practice across the four key pillars of physiotherapy: clinical, leadership, research and education. While being a physiotherapy support worker is a rewarding career in its own right, the vital contributions that support workers make across all these pillars often go unrecognised, and the opportunities for them to engage in these areas are limited.

Barriers to access for support workers

Our recent support worker survey (2024) revealed some eye-opening statistics. Only 6.1 per cent of respondents were involved in research activities on a daily basis, and just 5.6 per cent were teaching or supporting students on placements daily. Support workers stated that barriers such as unequal access to opportunities, lack of advanced roles, and limited training were major obstacles to career progression. These issues have led some to consider leaving their current employer, signalling a need for change.

By expanding awareness of how support workers can thrive across all four pillars, we can fully integrate this crucial workforce into the broader physiotherapy profession. This opens doors to exciting roles beyond traditional clinical settings and highlights the importance of clear career pathways and professional development opportunities.

Whether you're part of the support workforce, a registered clinician or a healthcare leader, this webinar will showcase the impact support workers can have on the entire healthcare system.
