Performing Medicine, an organisation that specialises in arts-based healthcare training and research, has released a free interactive resource, with an accompanying audio guide, to support easier and more effective communication for healthcare staff while they are wearing a mask.

Free Parkinson’s induction starts 6 June limited places
Are you a physiotherapist new to working with Parkinson’s? Perhaps you’ve just rotated onto a ward which supports people with Parkinson’s or you’ve joined a community neuro team. If so, the UK Parkinson’s Excellence Network has developed a new online induction programme specifically for physiotherapists, OTs and speech and language therapists who work with people with Parkinson’s.
The free, four-week programme starts on 6 June. It includes four self-directed webinars each week, plus an optional live Q&A session with the speakers.
There are limited places on the course, so to find out more and register for the programme.
HSJ Patient Safety Congress 15-16 September 2022
This year’s HSJ Patient Safety Congress includes a dedicated stream focusing on women’s healthcare, which aims to aid the discussion on informed consent, gender bias and medical paternalism vs patient autonomy.
It will also include best practice examples of clinician-led innovation on the frontline and an examination of the impact of Covid-19 on the health system, its staff and patients – with reference to system recovery, Long Covid and tackling the backlog safely. getUBetter
getUBetter is an evidence-based digital self-management platform for all common musculoskeletal conditions.
The app aims to help patients to trust their recovery, effectively self-manage their MSK conditions and utilise less healthcare resource.
getUBetter has already being adopted by some services in the NHS and is currently live across six integrated care systems and at 600 GP practices. It has also been selected for this year’s NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA) programme and its clinical director, physiotherapist Dr Carey McClellan, has recently received an NIA fellowship.
Social media guidance
Members are reminded that the CSP has produced guidance on how they can embrace social media in a productive, safe and professional manner.
The guide is aimed mainly at those who are new to social media or looking to develop their activity, but it also provides guidance on professional issues that may be useful for those who are more established.
