Keeping your knowledge and skills up to date through continuing professional development is a core requirement for maintaining your HCPC registration. But how do you become a fully evidence-based practitioner?

As a CSP member you have exclusive access to the eLibrary – a resource designed to make evidence-based practice easier and more efficient. Here’s how you can make the most of this resource:

  1. Set search alerts: use the CINAHL, MEDLINE, or AMED databases to create alerts. You’ll receive email updates when new research matches your search terms.
  2. Access curated evidence: use Trip Pro or ACCESSSS to send you recent high-level evidence in your specialty.
  3. Subscribe to PEDro’s updates: get the latest clinical practice guidelines, systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials summarised and sent straight to your inbox with PEDro’s ‘evidence in your inbox’ service.
  4. Journal alerts: set up table of contents alerts to know when new issues of your preferred journals are available.
  5. Cochrane and NICE Alerts: stay informed with topic alerts for Cochrane Reviews and Clinical Answers and sign up for evidence newsletters from NICE or NIHR Evidence.

One final tip – if a resource isn’t directly accessible,

Use the WorldCat Discovery tool on the CSP website to find the full text, or request a copy via our free document supply service.

This is just one of the many CSP member benefits. For a guide with links and screenshots for the above tips, visit here where you can find other useful guides on making the most of your eLibrary.
