Constraint-induced movement therapy

A round-up of this month's useful resources

Resources

Free and comprehensive resources to deliver constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) for recovery of arm function after neurological injury, such as stroke, have been developed by physio Annie Meharg and OT Jess Boydell working with an international team. They include videos to teach therapists how to carry out CIMT (useful for in person, telehealth or mixed delivery) and a full set of resources for patients undertaking CIMT.

MSK resource for students

Students on placement have always complained that MSK is their hardest placement, says physio Justin Lim. He’s created free MSK case scenarios for students interested in MSK and newly qualified physio rotating into MSK where you can improve your clinical reasoning in MSK.

Improving the diversity of the AHP workforce

Who Health Education England attracts into its AHP programmes, how they are recruited, and how their experiences as a learner and as a newly qualified AHP can be improved is the subject of a new resource, featuring recently funded projects and summaries of HEE’s work in Equality diversity and inclusion in AHP.

Community MSK waits

NHS England has published an improvement framework, described by the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance as a ‘must read’, which aims to reduce community musculoskeletal waits while also delivering best outcomes and experience.

New approach to reduce MSK-related work absence

In the first trial of its kind, Keele University Professor Gwenllian Wynne-Jones explains how the Study of Work and Pain was designed to provide evidence that would inform primary care practice and service development to support patients with MSK pain and related work issues.

If you come across resources and tools you would like to share with other clinicians please send them to frontline@csp.org.uk
