Our special affiliate membership is designed for physiotherapists and physiotherapy students who are seeking asylum in the UK, or living here with a humanitarian visa

Who can join?

Special affiliate membership is available free of charge if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are living in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey
  • You were working as a physiotherapist or studying physiotherapy, before you had to come to the UK
  • You are either:
    • claiming asylum in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey
    • have a Ukraine Family Scheme visa
    • have a Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme visa
    • part of the Afghan Citizen Resettlement Scheme
    • part of the Syrian Vulnerable Person Resettlement Programme
    • (If you have any other type of humanitarian visa, please contact enquiries@csp.org.uk to confirm your eligibility)
  • You are not currently studying physiotherapy in the UK or working in physiotherapy in the UK.

What if I don't meet these criteria?

If you are already working in the UK as a physiotherapist or therapy support worker, or are studying physiotherapy, we have a CSP membership category for you.

If you are a physio or student physio who is living outside your home country, and outside the UK, as a refugee or displaced person, you can join as an International Affiliate member for free. Our Enquiries Team can help you sign up.

If you are a CSP chartered or graduate affiliate member living outside the UK who has been displaced from your home country by conflict, famine or natural disaster you may be eligible for a period of free CSP membership. Contact enquiries@csp.org.uk for advice on this scheme.

How much does membership cost?

Special affiliate membership is free as long as you meet the criteria above. If your circumstances change and you no longer meet those criteria, you will need to move to the relevant CSP membership category.
